Kumarghat block is a 14th largest town in Tripura by population. Majority of women in this area are engaged in agricultural activities and contribute larger portion in livelihood. Observing the background of this area YK-LIBRA has tried its best to form an institution to bring women in forefront and develop their capacities in a robust platform called FPO. The struggle and challenges to turn a robust FPO was not an easy task.

Organization faced many challenges in its journey. Continuous denial from the community, availing necessary license from line department were some of the critical challenges which was paved through continues visit and village meeting for greater acceptance among the community people and government professionals. Similarly arranging working capital to start a business was another core area where the FPO struggled hard, but it was soon overcome by arranging working capital using own equity as seed capital as well as using effectively the equity grant received from SFAC. This good relationship created by FPO with the district level distributor made them eligible to purchase input materials on credit basis in the rage of 2 to 3 lakhs. Now Kumarghat Farmer producer Company limited since its establishment (2nd June 2023) has 150 number of active shareholders and has covered 12 villages. In the process of time; FPO has enhanced farmers’ competitiveness and increased their market opportunities. It has even provided major operations that includes supply of Seed, Fertilizer & Machinery, Market linkages, training and networking with financial and technical advice to farmers.Now this FPO has opened an outlet in Fatikroy Bazar (business timing 10 am to 4 pm) facing healthy competition and sell essential quality inputs like seed, fertilizer and pesticides to farmers in a discount price of 10 to 20% to farmer members and 5 to 20% to other farmers as compared to other market. Now this FPO wants to put its step in every village and reach wider segment of women by opening a mini-store where need-based facilitation and handholding support can be provided to women who are out of reach and bring quality change in their livelihood standard.
